-Changzhou is one hour from Shanghai or Nanjing by train. The Shanghai - Nanjing railway, Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway and Grand Canal run though the city.
-Changzhou is an energetic new industrial city and leads peer cities in terms of economic strength and advanced science and technology. As an advanced manufacturing base, its five “pillar” industries are machinery, electronics and Information Technology, renewable energy, advanced materials, and  bio-pharmaceuticals.
-Forty-nine of the Fortune 500 have set up presences in Changzhou, with a combined investment more than USD 2.86 billion
-In 2009, Changzhou’s GDP reached USD 37.05 billion, 11.7 percent higher than in 2008. Changzhou is now very much “on the map” for multinationals, and its role as an investment hub is likely to grow.

• In 2009, in the latest "2009 China City Competitiveness Annual", Changzhou was selected as the city with the most innovative municiple government and ranked the third in terms of municiple government service capability.
-In 2009, 237 foreign-invested projects were approved, and utilised foreign direct investment amounted to USD 2.261 billion, 10.9 percent higher than  in 2008
-By the end of 2009, over 3,100 foreign enterprises from 104 countries and regions had established a presence in Changzhou, including 49 Fortune  500 companies
-Changzhou will be one of the few stops on the Shanghai-Nanjing intercity express railway (due in July 2010) and the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway (service from 2012). After complrtion, it will take only  half an hour from Changzhou to Shanghai and four hours to Beijing
-Changzhou covers 4,385 km² and comprises five urban districts (Wujin, Xinbei, Tianning, Zhonglou and Qishuyan),  with two suburban county-level cities (Jintan and Liyang)
-Changzhou is a temperate city with four distinct seasons and ample sunshine and rainfall. Annual rainfall is 1,117.2 mm, with an average humidity of 78 percent. The mean temperature is 4.4˚C in January and 29.0˚C in July.
- In 2009, the residential population of Changzhou was 4.45 million at the end of 2009
- in 2009, the green coverage rate of the city reached 38.2percent, higher than the national average. The green area per capita was 11.8 m2. Changzhou Municipal Government plans to increase the city green coverage rate to more than 45 percent by 2012
- a new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system has officially started operation with dedicated bus lanes. At the end of 2009, the city had 155 bus lines, and the number of taxis reached 2,142
