Law of the People's Republic of China on
Farmers' Professional Cooperatives
Approved at the 24th meeting of the standing
committee of 10th NPC on October 31, 2006, promulgated by Decree No. 57 of the
Chairman of the People's Republic of China on October 31, 2006, and put in force
as of July 1, 2007.
Chapter 1 General Provisions
Article 1 This Law is formulated for the purpose of
supporting and guiding the development of farmers' professional cooperatives,
regularizing the organization and behavior of farmers' professional
cooperatives, safeguarding legitimate rights and interests of farmers'
professional cooperatives and their members, and promoting the development of
agriculture and rural economy.
Article 2 Farmer's professional cooperative refers
to the economic organization established on the basis of voluntary union and
democratic management under the rural household contractual management system,
by producers and operators of similar agricultural products, or by suppliers or
users of similar agricultural production & management services. Farmers'
professional cooperatives are established to serve their members by offering
techniques and information in relation to agricultural production &
management and such services as purchase of agricultural production materials
and sale, processing, transport and storage of agricultural
products. |
