On April 28th, Changzhou Lingda Chemical Co., Ltd. officially signed a contract with DuPont, one of the Fortune 500 Companies, to cooperatively produce Sorona, the new carpet yarn. With annual sales of over USD 30 billion, DuPond has magnificent R&D capabilities in chemicals, electronics, textiles and so on, and was the inventor of some widely used fibers, such as nylon and lycra. Sorona carpet yarn was DuPond’s most revolutionary fiber material during the past 20 years. More than half of Sorona’s raw materials were refined from plants, the production of which can reduce 40% energy consumption and 50% carbon dioxide emission. Moreover, carpets made of Sorona are easier to clean, brighter in color, better for subsequent machining and lower in costs. Therefore, Sorona has a broad market in hotel, automobile and household industries. Through this cooperation, Changzhou Lingda obtained the exclusive manufacturing rights of Sorona. The first-phase project will invest RMB 200 million for the target of an annual capacity of 30,000 tons and over RMB 1 billion in single product sales, so as to become a leading enterprise of high-end specialty fiber. |
